Imphal: Manipur chief minister has extended his greetings to the teaching community ‘that is devoted to nurturing and enlightening minds’ on the occasion of Teacher’s Day.
Biren said the day is observed on September 5 every year in the country on the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India.
Paying tributes to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan who was also a distinguished teacher and renowned statesman, the chief minister said, “Teachers play a profound role in shaping society as they inform, influence, educate and enlighten the minds of the students…It is a noble profession shaping the character and future of a country.”
He salute all teachers of the state —teachers in schools, colleges, universities, coaches and mentors, managers, leaders and even mothers for fulfilling their duty with boundless dedication.
Manipur government is organising Teacher’s Day on Sunday at City Convention Centre, here with chief minister as chief guest. Teachers’ award will be presented on the occasion.
