Imphal: The current price hike in petrol and diesel is created by the Narendra Modi led NDA government and state government.
CPI state secretary L. Sotinkumar allegedly said this during a rally as a part “Nationwide Protest Fortnight” conducted near Ningthem Pukhri, Imphal East on Saturday.
The national wide protest has been conducting across the country since Wednesday and will be continuing till June 30.
The protest in Imphal was jointly conducted by the left parties co-ordination committee, Manipur which includes Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) and All India Forward Bloc (AIFB).
Secretary, CPI (M) Manipur Ksh.Shanta said if the central and state government reduced charging of tax as excise and value added tax (VAT) in petrol and diesel then price could be reduced to Rs 65 and Rs 50 per litre respectively.
The protesr raised slogans “Roll Back Petroleum Products Price Hikes”, “Control Prices of Essential Commodities and Drugs” and “Wave Excise Duties and VAT by Central and State Government”.
