Imphal: Education Minister S. Rajen Singh has said that people of the state will see initial achievements of school Fagathanshi Mission by the end of December this year. The Minister was speaking to media during his ongoing survey and inspection tour at selected schools in Khurai, Khundrakpam and Lamlai Assembly Constituencies in Imphal East District today.
During his visit at Popular High School, Khurai, minister interacted with the teaching and non-teaching staffs. He inspected the existing building and of the school and assured for construction of new toilet for boys’ and girls’ separately since the existing toilet is at a bad shap. Minister also advised the staffs to dedicate in their service and he also suggested to work sincerely.
Rajen, during his visit at Khundrakpam Chingkhu Government High School also inspected the ongoing construction of the new block. He also assured for construction of new toilets according to the fund available in the department on priority basis. Minister also instructed the concerned departmental engineers to take up possible action in this regard.
Later, Minister visited Uyumpok Upper Primary School and interacted with the villagers regarding shifting of the present school to an adjoining and spacious area. He also instructed the concerned engineers to speed up the newly constructed building.
During his visit at Lamlai Assembly Constituency, Rajen Singh visited Sawombung Kabui Primary School, Lamlai Hr. secondary School and the Central High School Chalou. During his visit at Sawombung Kabui Primary School minister assured that if the people of Sawombung is ready to send their kids to this school, the previous amalgamation ordered may be cancelled.
A felicitation function was also organised at Biramangol College, Sawombung which had been recently absorbed by the government. Its credibility during the felicitation function, Minister Rajen said that the department of education is working hard on the effective implementation of the National Education Policy, NEP, 2020. A Task Force has also been constituted which was led by Education Minister. Sub Task Force will be announced very soon, he added.
Colleges in the state need to digest norms and criteria of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC-UGC. Colleges in the state need to score NAAC credits in order to increase its credibility. The top colleges in the state is still in the low grade according to NAAC, minister added.
Minister also wished the fish farmers of Manipur on the occasion of the World Fishery Day, 2020. As a part of the celebration, being the in-charge of the Department, minister Rajen visited the Government Fish Seed farm, Leimakhong Mapal, Lamlai. He maintained that fish farmers in the state need to be empowered in order to reduce import of fish products in the state. He was accompanied by Director Fisheries L. Gojendro Singh, DFO, Imphal East, P. Romi Singh and other officials. (DIPR)
