Imphal: A 35 years old man was shot by his neighbour over land dispute on Saturday morning. He was treated at a private hospital in Imphal, but expired later in the day. He was reported to be working as a Junior Telecom officer with BSNL.
The deceased had been identified as Gurumayum Suraj Sharma, son of one Gurumayum Gope Sharma of Yumnam Leikai Ngakrabam Leirak in Imphal West.
The accused had been identified as Gurumayum Molecule Sharma, who is related with the deceased and also his neighbor. It may be mentioned that, Mr. Molecule had contested election as independent candidate in last many general elections.
According to locals, the incident took place at around 9:30 am. Mr. Molecule shot the deceased with a license double barrel and later fled from the spot. He is still at large.
After the incident, victim was rushed to hospital but he succumbed to injuries. The body of the deceased had been taken to RIMS for autopsy.
A case had been registered at Singjamei Police Station.
