Imphal: Manipur Police, on Tuesday cracked down on an inter-state organised gang of arms dealers, arms smugglers and middle men who were smuggling unauthorised arms across different states, operating clandestinely in greater Imphal area.
The police arrested four individuals in this connection and recovered incriminating articles including arms and ammunitions.
They were identified as Sinam Somendro Metei, 43, alias Pankhei alias Richards of Thangmeiband, Imphal West district, cadre of UNLF (P); Lanchemba Nongthomba, 24, of Nongmeibung Ayangpalli, Imphal East district,
RK. Abothe Singh, 33, alias Rohit of Singjamei Chirom Leikai, Imphal West district, Bishwanath Thokchom, 21, of Kongpal Mutum Leikai, Imphal East district.
From their possession, one Smith and Wesson pistol 9 mm, along with 2 magazines (24 Rds), another Smith and Wesson 9 mm pistol along with one magazine (10 Rds), one Sig Sauer pistol 9 mm with one magazine (15 Rds), one Glock 19 with two magazines (28 Rds), one JD Taurus Pistol 7.65 mm, with one magazine (8 Rds), one Falcon Cal 7.62 mm along with one magazine (9 Rds), one M-20 Falcon pistol along with one magazine, one Keltec pistol .32 mm with two magazines (15 Rds), one Beretta pistol with one magazine (2 Rds), one Glock pistol .32 with one magazine, extra live pistol rounds: 159 nos of .32 mm, three mobile phones and four wireless handsets.
