Imphal: Security forces arrested one active cadre of KCP (PWG) from Leirongthel Pitra under Nongpok Sekmain police station, Thoubal district, Manipur, on Saturday.
Intelligence based combing operations and cordon and search operations have been carried out extensively to nab the culprits involved in extortion activities in the state, said Manipur. During such operations, one active cadre of KCP (PWG) was apprehended from Leirongthel Pitra under Nongpok Sekmai police station, Thoubal district, namely Elangbam Sailesh Singh, 29, of Leisangthem Thoudam Mayai Leikai Leirak No.6, Thoubal.
“The arrested person is directly involved in extortion activities in Thoubal district,” Manipur Police Control Room said. From his possession, one .32 Pistol along with magazine, three .32 live rounds, one mobile phone and one SIM card were recovered. Security forces also arrested one active cadre of UNLF (Pambei), namely, Oinam Roshan Singh (20) of Moidangpok Awang Leikai, at present staying at New Keithelmanbi under Patsoi police station, Imphal West district from Khumbong Bazar under Patsoi police station, Imphal West district.
“The arrested person is directly involved in collecting money from the Tata trucks plying along NH-37 at Khumbong Bazar,” the police control room said. “One mobile handset with SIM cards and a sum of Rs 2,500, extorted from truckers, were recovered from his possession,” it added.
On the same day, security forces arrested one active cadre of RPF/PLA from Wangjing Sorokhaibam Leirak under Thoubal police station, Thoubal district, namely, Heikrujam Umakanta Singh, 26, of Wangjing Sorokhaibam Leikai, Thoubal district. “The arrested person is directly involved in extortion activities in Thoubal district.”
On this day, security forces arrested one active cadre of KYKL from Khabeisoi near 7 MR gate under Heingang police station, Imphal East district, namely, Ningthoujam Romen Singh, 35, of Pangaltabi Makha Leikai, Kakching district. “The arrested person is directly involved in recruiting new cadres to their organization,” the police control room said.
