Imphal: The Board of Secondary Education, Manipur, on Monday announced its High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2025 results, reporting an overall pass percentage of 91.37 percent.
A total of 36,943 students appeared for the matric examination, 18,387 male and 18,556 female candidates. Of these, 33,755 students successfully passed the exam. The results of nine students have been withheld. The HSLC examinations were conducted from February 19 to March 7.
“The state board introduced a Grade and Grade Point System in place of traditional marks, following a resolution adopted during its meeting held on April 20, 2024. The new system, implemented in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aims to improve student performance while minimizing academic stress,” officials said.
While this year’s pass percentage of 91.37 percent reflects a slight decline from the 93.03 percent recorded in 2024, it remains significantly higher compared to 82.82 percent in 2023 and 76 percent in 2022, indicating a consistent upward trend over the years.
Among the districts, Kakching recorded the highest pass percentage at 98.47 percent, followed closely by Noney at 97.78 percent and Chandel at 95.95 percent. Pherzawl district reported the lowest pass percentage at 56.76 percent.
Private schools secured a 94.15 percent pass, while government schools registered a pass percentage of 82.32. Aided schools yielded a pass percentage of 91.38.
The 2025 HSLC results were officially declared by the Secretary of Education (S), Naorem Praveen Singh, in the presence of the board chairman, Akham Joykumar, its secretary, S. Jitelal Sharma, and the director of Education (S), Ng. Bhogendra Meitei.
