Scindia reaffirms Centre’s commitment to peace, development, youth empowerment in Manipur

Imphal: Union minister for Communications and DoNER, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, who visited Imphal on Thursday, said the government is committed to supporting peace, development, and youth empowerment in Manipur.

The minister made the remark in a post on his official X account upon his arrival at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal, on Thursday for a one-day visit.

He was here for a review of development schemes under the DoNER ministry and to participate a high-level task force meeting on sports chaired by governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla.

“Delighted to be in Imphal, Manipur today for Review Meeting on key development schemes and to participate in a High-Level Task Force Meeting on Sports. We remain committed in supporting the State’s journey towards peace, development & youth empowerment,” Scindia posted on X.

“Following the Prime Minister’s resolve for development or ‘Vikash’ and ensuring that Manipur advances on all fronts, I have held multiple meetings with the Hon’ble Governor,” Scindia told reporters at the airport.

The state chief secretary and other top officials took part in the meeting. Scindia presented an overview of the ministry’s initiatives in the state and reviewed the progress of ongoing schemes.

“Held valuable discussions and reaffirmed our resolve to advance Manipur’s development and empower its youth,” Scindia posted, sharing a photograph of himself with Governor Bhalla, who handed over a miniature model of the historic Kangla gate.

The minister left Imphal in the evening.

He later posted on X, “Progress for Manipur! Chaired a comprehensive review meeting with Hon’ble Governor Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla ji, @MDoNER_India officials and senior officials from the Manipur State Government. Assessed ongoing development schemes under @MDoNER_India and explored ways to further harness Manipur’s unique strengths in tourism, sports, handloom, and infrastructure development. Also reviewed the state’s comparative and competitive advantages to identify areas where Manipur can lead with innovation. Confident that @MDoNER_India will serve as a proactive facilitator in unlocking new opportunities and accelerating the state’s growth & development.”
