Imphal: Two poppy cultivators were arrested on Tuesday after destruction of poppy plants at the Mapithel Hill range under Phungyar sub-division falling under jurisdiction of Litan police station, Ukhrul.
The poppy plants were destroyed by a combined team of state police, Forest department and BSF personnel along with executive agistrate led by SDPO Ukhrul.
About 45 acres of poppy plantation was destroyed.
The arrested poppy cultivators were arrested from the fields. They were identified as Letkhohao Haokip, 38, Semgouthang khongsai, 30, said police in a press release on Wednesday.
An FIR is registered for further investigation, it added.
