Imphal: While Kuki avoids talks, chief minister N. Biren Singh declared that talks between both the communities involved in the ongoing Manipur crisis have started to restore peace under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home minister Amit Shah.
A Kuki body recently stated that Kuki will not hold talks under the Biren Singh government. They kept demanding for a separate administration under the Indian Constitution.
Biren was speaking to reporters BJP Manipur Pradesh office, here on Wednesday after a BJP party executive meeting.
The meeting was participated by Union minister Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal; BJP north east region in-charge, Sambit Patra, Manipur’s cabinet ministers and MLAs.
The Union minister landed Imphal on Wednesday.
He said under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home minister, Amit Shah the Manipur government is continuing its efforts to bring back peace in the state.
Talks between Kuki and Meitei who are directly involved in the ongoing Manipur crisis have already started. Peace is coming back in the state, Biren said.
Biren made this statement amid agitations and attacks to Meitei villages in different parts of the state.
Biren did not mention when and where the talks have started.
Biren said the meeting also discussed to take necessary steps in connection with the recent flood occurred in Manipur.
The meeting also discussed to monitor the issues of relief camps established for the displaced people affected due to the Manipur crisis.
Union minister, Law and Justice denied to give any comment on the law and order situation of the state.
Arjun Ram Meghwal may stay in Manipur for two days.
Responding to media on when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Manipur, Biren Singh said “BJP Manipur in-charge might have discussed at central level but for us we have to try to solve the issue by ourselves together”.
