Imphal: One person was found beheaded by miscreants in Jiribam district of Manipur on Thursday leading to setting abandoned Kuki houses in blaze.

The deceased was identified as one Soibam Saratkumar Singh, 59, son of late Soibam Babahal Singh of Sorok Atingbi Khunou, Jiribam.

The incident reportedly occurred at around 5 pm.

When Saratkumar was returning from his son’s farm at Leishabithol. He was reportedly detained and apprehended by some unknown miscreants near Khasia Punji which is along the way back to his home.

The family members of Saratkumar immediately report to Jiribam district police. Immediately a joint search operation was conducted in an around the area where Saratkumar was reportedly apprehended.

During the operation, the beheaded body of Saratkumar was found near Mulargoan which is around 12 kilometres to the north of Jiribam police station, on the same evening.

The reason why and who killed Saratkumar was still unknown.

A case has been registered at Jiribam police station.

According to the wife of the deceased, Soibam Romola said when she was returning back from the farm along with her son ahead of her husband she and her son met some unknown miscreants suspected to be Kuki on the way.

When she reached home and tried to call on the mobile phone of Saratkumar, it was found switched off. As the unknown miscreants that she saw along the way back home from the farm were suspicious, her son went back to the area and searched.

“My son found the two-wheeler and the sandal of my husband, immediately reported to police,but my husband was found beheaded”, she said.

Irated mob later at around 9 pm set ablaze abandoned houses of Kuki located at the nearby area.

Irate mob stormed at Jiribam police station demanding to return their license guns that were submitted ahead of Lok sabha election.
