Imphal: The Economic Blockade imposed by the Kuki-Zo CSOs of Jiribam and Tamenglong along NH-37 has been called off after holding a Joint Public meeting with representatives of Tamenglong Police, Assam Rifles and CRPF, on Friday.

The meeting have reached to an understanding to call off the Economic Blockade with certain agreements.

Accordingly the concern district police of Tamenglong and Jiribam and other security forces deployed in both the districts will ensure safety and movement of essential commodities and commercial vehicles to Kuki-Zo communities of Jiribam and Tamenglong including medical facilities etc.

It was agreed that the concern district police shall make all necessary efforts to book and punish as per law the culprits involved in abduction of Langgel Muangpu son of Langgel Luaial of Vengnom Dibongkhunou, Jiribam.

It was also agreed to open Joint Naka Check point near Phaitoul village with deployment of both central and state forces.

The agreement mentioned that the concerned district police of Jiribam and Tamenglong and central forces should ensure strict action against any radical elements and miscreants engaged in intimidation of public and commercial business.

The agreement was brought through signing of a memorandum of understanding.
