Imphal: Thwai Mirel, a civil body, has demanded all the 50 MLAs (excluding 10 Kuki MLAs) of Manipur including chief minister N. Biren Singh to rush to Jiribam district to act with their responsibility against the aggressive Kuki acts.
Co-convenor of Thawai Mirel, Paonam Sanahanbi said monitoring the issue of Jiribam is not only the sole duty of Chief Minister but all the MLAs must take the responsibility and should go to Jiribam along with adequate securities to save Jiribam.
Sanahanbi told reporters at Manipur Press Club, here,on Tuesday that Manipur has been in the state of unrest since May 3 last year. “The peripheral area of Imphal West district such as Kadangband, Koutruk, Senjam Chirang are still echoing the sounds of bombs and gun shots.”
On Monday and Tuesday, gunfight with bombs were witnessed at these areas which is located at a short distance from the CM’s residence.
Jiribam has been dominated by Kuki aggression. The most essential things that the Jiribam people wanted is to provide adequate ambulance, proper medical facilities and adequate state forces, Sanahanbi said.
“Manipur people do not want to hear the assurance that I will go to Jiribam. People rather want to hear, I have reached Jiribam,” said Sanahanbi.
Thawai Mirel convenor Th. Dara said Kuki militants attack Meitei at any timet and the India government are not taking any action against them.
The government should take immediate necessary steps to stop Jiribam violence.
Jiribam has been under the umbrella of violence since Thursday, the day a Meitei man was found beheaded.
