Imphal: Cadres of Pambei led UNLF ( in peace talk) took part in controlling flood, rescue works and providing essential items to stranded people due to flash flood in affected areas of Imphal including Khurai Lairikyengbam Leikai.
The incessant rainfall in the has affected areas of Imphal East and West were also affected. Khurai Lairikyengbam Leikai, Laipham Khunou and surrounding areas including Namdulong were also among worsely affected areas.
In these areas many houses were partially submersed till Friday. The water level has been decreasing as the rainfall has stopped on Thursday.
At Khurai Lairikyengbam area, volunteers of Arambai Tengol, Khurai unit with volunteers of Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur, volunteers of Manipur Mountaineering Training Institute and local volunteers were seen rescuing stranded people in the area with water boats.
The joint team not only rescue stranded people but also provided necessary essential items by sailing the boats from door to door.
At Nagaram area, near Khuman Lampak sports campus, cadres of Pambei Led UNLF including women were seen taking part on rescue operation.
One cadre of the outfit said the rescue operation was conducted under the guidance of district secretary, Thoubal district of the outfit, Liklangamba.
The outfit has been continuing providing necessary on rescue operation of stranded people and providing relief materials along with financial assistance.
The cadres have been serving at several flood affected areas of Imphal including Keishampat, Khurai Lairikyengbam Leikai, Laipham Khunou and other areas.
The outfit said they will continue to provide necessary assistance to the flood affected people.
