Imphal: Manipur government has announced two days public holiday on Thursday and Friday in wake of mass flood in Manipur.
State has been experiencing incessant rams due to the effect of, Cyclone Remal. This has resulted in inundation of various places in Imphal West, Imphal East, Kangpokpi, Senapatl, Bishnuypur District. Government Is carrying out rescue and relief works through district administration and concerned departments, said an order issued by General Administrative department on Thursday.
The government appealed the general public to stay inside their home and not to move out except for emergency so that the authorities can carry out the rescue and relief works smoothly.
People stuck in flood water may contact helpline numbers (notified by respective deputy commissioners) for rescue and relief works. In addition, centralised helpline numbers (09233522822, 09485280461, 0385-2440028, 06909525816 and 0385-2912006) involving all concerned civil police and security forces have also been operational and It can be contacted for meeting any emergency needs of the citizens, the government order said.
The governor of Manipur declares Thursday and Friday as public holiday for all government offices including Public Sector Undertakings, Corporations, Autonomous Bodies, societies under the state government. All banks, financial knstitutins and LIC, etc, located in the state shall also remain closed on these to days, the order mentioned.
Home, Police, District Administration, Relief and Disaster Management, Power, Health and Family Welfare, PHE, Water Resources, PWD, GAD, CAF and PD, Ml, Forests, LOA, etc., shall remain open, it said.
Employees of all the other departments must be available on phone call for any eventuality, the government order said.
