Imphal: In continuation of the agitation taken up by government higher secondary school teachers over pending 13 months’ salary of 603 lecturers, a silent protest was staged in front of SSA main gate, Babupara, here on Friday, the 4th day of their agitation.
The protestors say the teachers are demanding for accomplishment of their right. They have been teaching the students without monthly salary for the last 13 months. Even so, they produce toppers and help in increasing the pass percentage of government higher secondary schools.
While the 603 dedicated lecturers are agitating state government is celebrating on rising pass percentage by side-lining the teachers who put their efforts.
The protestors demonstrated the silent protest with slogans on placards “Teachers without enjoying a year’s pay is human right violation”, “Educators deserve respect not excuse”, “Is employment without pay the new norm?” and others.
