“365 days of Chin Kuki Narco Terrorist Aggression in Manipur” on May 3

Imphal: Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) announced to organise discussion on “365 days of Chin Kuki Narco Terrorist Aggression in Manipur” on May 3 at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound, here on May 3.

The programme is organised to discuss the unsolved Meitei-Kuki crisis that completes one year of the conflict on May 3.

Coordinator of the coordinating body, Somorendro Thokchom on Saturday told reporters at its office here that on coming May 3 scholars, intellectuals and others will discuss on the reason of inability to end the crisis.

Politicians and CSO leaders should stop doing politics and acting like a patriot. Instead they should work with cooperation by sidelining the concept of ‘crab theory’, Somorendro said.

He said AFSPA and SoO (suspension of operation) was implemented and signed during the period of the then Congress government and presently the people are getting the impact as the present government is also not taking necessary steps to bring peace.

The legislative leaders should stop playing blame game to each other, he added.

Somorendro said the war is not between Meitei and Kuki but the war was declared against Chin Kuki Narco Terrorist and why the various communities having different dialect under the Chin Kuki are involving in the present crisis.

A collecting effort is needed from all sections of the communities in order to restore peace, he added.
