Fire Service Week to begin on April 14

Imphal:  The Fire Service Week will begin on April 14 throughout the country for fire safety awareness among the public in order to minimize the losses owing to fire.

The theme of this year’s Fire Service Week is “Ensure Fire Safety, Contribute towards Nation Building”.

As part of the observation, various programmes will be taken up during the week. The programmes will include paying homage to the martyrs, observance of commemoration day on April 14, fire mock & evacuation drill, Fit India Movement, Khelo India Programme, lectures, workshops and presentations including demonstrations on fire prevention and fire protection, essay/poster competitions and special inspection campaign on fire safety in multi-storied buildings, hospitals and major industries.

14th April is observed every year as “Fire Service Day” to commemorate the memory of the brave firefighters who lost their lives during the dock explosion at Mumbai on this day in 1944.
