Imphal: Manipur Police on Friday apprehended six persons including one minor for fishing illegally, using electric equipments at Leingang Manungpat Loktak Lake under Keibul Lamjao Police station.
Makakmayum Khomei, 55, Makakmayum Nawaz Khan, 20, Makakmayum Ayadi, 29, Md. Shaphiulla, 32 and Md. Hephauddin, 42, of Komlakhong were arrested. The minor boy has been handed over to observation home, said a police report.
Investigation is going on to establish the network and other evidences. Strict measures will be taken by Bishnupur Police against such illegal, unethical and dangerous practice of fishing. Appeal is made to general public to stop such illegal fishing practices immediately, it added.
