Civil bodies announce mass protest to save Manipur

Imphal: Civil bodies have announced rally mass protest on Thursday with the objective to safeguard and to restore culture and history of Manipur.

The mass protest rally was set under the theme “Save Manipur, Save India” to be organised in valley districts of Manipur.

The mass protest will be jointly organised by the People’s Alliance for Peace and Progressive Manipur (PAPPM), Meitei Resurgence Forum, Sekmai Apunba Village Volunteer Force, Youth for Peace and Progress, Apunba Meitei Ima Lup.

President of PAPPM, Mayanglambam Bobby Meitei on Wednesday told reporters here that on Thursday with the mass protest, a booklet highlighting the pre-plan strategies of Kuki in the present crisis will be launched.

He appealed to the people of Manipur to participate in a mass protest in any form including human-chain protest, sit-in-protest and other democratic form of protest.

The protest was set to demonstrate from 2 pm to 3 pm at their respective localities.

“Down down Kuki narco-terrorist”, “Save Manipur save India”, “Go back double standard Assam Rifles” and “We want peace” will be the slogans among others in the protest, Bobby said.

He appealed to all the sections of people to support the mass protest to safeguard Manipur.
