Churachandpur incident was Kuki narco terrorist plan to stay in Manipur: COCOMI

Imphal: Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) says Churachandpur District Police complex, mini secretariat, police station and SP quarter were set ablaze retaliating chief minister N. Biren Singh’s announcement that base year of NRC will be 1961 and taking advantage of suspension of a head constable serving in Churachandpur.

Coordinator of COCOMI, Somorendro Thokchom told reporters at its office, here on Friday that Indigenous Tribal Leader’s Forum (ITLF) and those who were involved in burning down the government offices should be booked within seven days. If the central government fails to book the culprits involve in Thursday night’s arson incident, people of Manipur who are citizens of India might launch agitation against the central government.

He said ITLF alleged that SP Shivanand Surve and the district magistrate S. Dharun are responsible for arson of mini secretariat, SP quarter and office. They were warned to leave the district within 24 hours. What is the hidden agenda of the state and central government for not able to take necessary action against ITLF? He questioned.

The state and central government should book the culprits involved in the arson incident including ITLF within 7 days, he demanded.

The Kuki Narco terrorist arsoned the mini secretariat of Churachandpur to destroy various important documents. COCOMI will take the incident as a plan of Kuki narco terrorist so that they could stay longer after NRC in Manipur, he added.

In few days back three ZEOs were suspended and during that time no agitation was carried out. COCOMI strongly condemn the heinous act on Thursday in Churachandpur, said Somorendro.
