Will provide necessary assistance to crisis affected people: JNIMS director

Imphal: Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science (JNIMS) will provide any necessary assistance under government schemes for any needy people in connection with the ongoing crisis said director professor Deben Singh Laishram.

Deben was speaking at Gynaecology ward, JNIMS on Tuesday during a visit of a woman who delivered her first son at the hospital free of cost under government schemes.

Deben said the family members of the woman requested the authorities of primary health centre, Wangoo on Friday after witnessing the complicacies of the labour pain of the woman. However, gynecology facility was not available at the health centre.

He said as he encountered the issue highlighted on media, he with my medical team rushed to Wangoo and picked up the pregnant woman in an ambulance of the hospital on Sunday at around 9.30 pm. Later, she was admitted at the hospital and after consulting with the doctor concerned of the hospital, the doctor team of the hospital conducted cesarean section operation to deliver the child. The doctor decided to conduct C-section as they found some health complicacies on both mother and child, he added.

The woman delivered a healthy boy child on Sunday late night, he added.

He said any individual affected by the present turmoil will be provided necessary assistance from the hospital. He appealed the people to cooperate with the hospital.

Warepam Roma mother of the patient appreciated director of JNIMS for providing immediate assistance at the time of need. She said her daughter and grandchild was safe and sound.
