Khaikholal, Henkholal remanded to police custody for 9 days

Imphal: Philip Khaikholal Khongsai and Henkholal Mate who were apprehended on Monday by Manipur Police in Moreh, Tengnoupal district, Manipur have been remanded to police custody for nine days.

They were produced before the Judicial Magistrate, Moreh and have been remanded into police custody. The investigation is ongoing, Manipur Police Control Room said on Tuesday. They were arrested in connection with the killing of SDPO Ch. Anand ADC office, Chikim village, Moreh (Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur).

Anand was shot dead reportedly using a sniper rifle on October 31, last year while inspecting a new helipad at Eastern Shine School, Moreh.

The police control room said during the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense but under control.

Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Kangpokpi and Thoubal districts.

On Sunday, security forces arrested three active members of the proscribed outfit KYKL from Wanglee Market, Kamjong district. A case has been registered at Kasom Khullen Police Station for further investigation, the police said.

On the next day, security forces arrested one active member of NRFM for involvement in extortion in the Imphal Area. A case has been registered at Porompat Police Station for further investigation, it added.
