Parties demonstrate against 146 MPs suspension at Imphal, Ibobi terms NDA as dictator

Imphal: Joining the national wide protest against suspension of 146 MPs, 10 like-minded political parties of Manipur demonstrated protest at the campus of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), here, on Friday.

The 10 like-minded political parties consisted of AAP, AIFP, AITC, CPI, CPI(M), INC, JD(U), NCP,RSP and SS(UBT).

CLP leader O. Ibobi said, “People feel insecure in the Modi led NDA government and BJP led Manipur government. The fate of Indian democracy is in a mysterious situation, doubt if democracy would survive in the country.”

With the security lapses of BJP government, an unwanted incident was occurred inside the Lok Sabha where two persons jumped off the gallery and hurled tear gas shells inside the Parliament. When some of the opposition MPs of the parliament raised the issue seeking response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Union Home minister Amit Shah, the Parliament suspended 146 MPs, the Congress veteran said.

The act of NDA government is similar as that of dictatorship as no individual can raise voice against the government, he added.

Similarly, no individuals are allowed to raise voice or opinion against the Biren led government else the individual will be booked. Even media persons are also booked for raising voice against the Biren led government, Ibobi said.

He said Manipur might be only state where elections are not conducted after the end of the term. Elections of Autonomous District Council, Municipal Corporation, panchayat are not conducted. The term has ended.

MPCC president K. Meghachandra said suspension of opposition MPs would remain as black mark in the history of Indian democracy. Decrying the act of the NDA government the national wide protest is being organised, he added.
