‘Government never listens women voice’

Imphal: Government never listens to the voice of women, it only knows to praise women with mere words, president of a women body–All Manipur Women’s Social Reformation and Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), Thokchom ongbi Ramani Leima said on Friday.

Ramani was talking to reporters on the sideline of 43rd Suba Meira Paibi Houdokhiba Numit (43rd anniversary of Meira Paibi) held at the Ima Khunthokhanbi Shanglen, Thangmeiband, Imphal.

The programme was organized by the Nupi Samaj, a women organisation.

Ramani said the present government praises women of Manipur, but never listens to the voice of women. There is a saying “Heitana Luchingba Leingak Wadore” (The insensible government has to face the music). The same is being faced in the state.

She said Meira Paibi and ‘Nisa Bandh’ (women institution banning drugs) was formed by a group of women under Nupi Samaj to stop using intoxicants and to protect the societies from unwanted forces. Later, to strengthen the Meira Paibi various groups were formed at different places of the state.

In the present unrest students are suffering the most as they are not able to get proper education, she said. She appealed the government to bring back normalcy, for which and all the bureaucrats and leaders should cooperate each others.
