Five days Waree Leeba Festival organised

Imphal: Five-day Waree Leeba Festival, 2023 that has been conducted at the auditorium of Regional College, Lilong Chajing concluded on Sunday.

The programme was conducted in connection with 57th anniversary of Manipur Pouranik Parishad under the sponsorship of ministry of Culture, Government of India, New Delhi.

The closing function was attended by MLA Karam Shyam; president Manipur Pouranik Parishad, Yurembam Ahongjao Singh; and principal of Regional College, M. Memtombi.

Oja (guru) Konthoujam Kunjo Singh of Kongba Kshetri Leikai who is also advisor of Manipur Pouranik Parishad was felicitated for receiving his degree of doctor of culture on December 16.

Head of Manipuri department, Regional College, M. Basanti Devi appreciated Manipur Pouranik Parishad for trying to promote the ‘Waree Leeba’ (story telling) art form.

The society needs to encourage such art form which connected with the tradition of Manipur, she added.
