Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh has condemned Kadangband incident in which a person was shot dead at by ‘some evil elements who are trying to disrupt peace’.
The government will continue search and combing operation in Kadangband area until perpetrators are arrested, Biren said.
Responding to reporters during a function at the chief minister’s bungalow, Biren said some of the evil elements are trying to disrupt peace while various civil society organisations, government machineries, Meira Paibi are trying to restore peace.
It is unfortunate that a person was shot dead by some evil elements on Saturday morning at Kadangband area in Imphal West. Search and combing operation has already started in the area and the government will continue the operation until the perpetrators are arrested, the chief minister said.
One village defence volunteer identified as one Ningombam Jamesbond, 35 from Mayang Langjing, Imphal West was reportedly killed by suspected Kuki militants at Kadangband part-II on Saturday at around 3.30am.
It is reported that Jamesbond succumbed to his bullet injury with excessive bleeding. The body has been deposited at JNIMS mortuary.
Biren appealed all the sections of the society to leave violence and bring peace in the state. He appealed to end the violence with dialogue on a negotiating table.
