Arms, drug, fake currency notes recovered

Imphal: Security forces in Manipur recovered arms, fake currency notes and drugs during search operations, and arrested four persons.

During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense but under control with sporadic incidents of firing and congregation of protestors. Search operations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal West, Kakching and Churachandpur districts, Manipur Police Control Room said on Tuesday.

During the operations, it said, three locally made Single Barrel guns, one locally made Pistol, two locally made mortar, one Tear Gas gun, two 9mm ammunitions, three tear smoke shells, fake currency amounting to Rs 1200 and one bag were recovered from D. Haolenjang village bordering D. Moljang village, Churachandpur district.

On the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, Manipur Police arrested four individuals near Leingangpokpi OP and recovered 20 soap caps containing brown colour powder suspected to be contraband drugs, weighing a total of 254.52 gm, four mobile phones and one Maruti Gypsy vehicle.
