Imphal: Security forces arms and explosives during an operation at Uyumakhong village, Bishnupur district, Manipur on Saturday.
The recovered items were two arms (SLR with magazine- 1, Carbine -1), four explosives (HE hand grenades-4), one 51 mm smoke bomb, one WP smoke bomb and two 2-inch Para bombs.
During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense but under control with sporadic incidents of the congregation of protestors, Manipur Police Control Room said on Saturday.
It said search operations, area domination and flag marches were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal-West, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Tengnoupal districts.
Movement of 45 vehicles along NH-37 with essential items has been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it added.
The police department appeals to the public to return the ‘looted arms, ammunition and explosives’ to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
