Security forces nab 6 militants in 2 days, recover arms and explosives in Manipur

Imphal: Manipur Police on Saturday apprehended one active member of KCP (Noyon group) from Imphal-West district who was allegedly involved in extortion of huge amount of money from general public.

Three mobile handsets were recovered from his possession.

Five active members of the outfit KCP (Military Task Force) who were allegedly involved in extortion activities from public and various establishments were arrested in an operation in Imphal East district on Friday, said Manipur Police Control Room on Friday.

The security forces recovered one arm, 48 ammunitions, three 7.62 ammunition charger clip, five mobile phone handsets, one pistol holster, three pairs of fighting dress with one scarf, four pairs of Jungle Boots, one BP Jacket, one Jungle hat, two wallets, two belts, a sum of Rs 2090 and one car (Hyundai i20) without registration plate from their possession.

During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was under control. Search operations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Bishnupur, Kakching, Thoubal and Imphal-West districts, the police control room said on Saturday.

During the operations, two arms (SMG Carbine with one magazine, one country made 9 mm pistol), seven ammunition and 10 explosives were recovered from the adjoining area of Phougakchao Ikhai Mamang Leikai and Kolbung village under Phougakchao Ikhai Police station, Bishnupur district.

Manipur Police department appeals to public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
