People pray for peace in Manipur on Rajarishi Bhagyachandra death anniversary

Imphal: Offering 108 dishes to Lord Vishnu, devotees prayed to restore normalcy in Manipur on the 255th Death Anniversary celebration of Rajarishi Bhagyachandra held at Shri Shri Govindaji Temple, Palace Compound, here on Tuesday.

The celebration was jointly organised by Shri Shri Govindaji Temple Board, Karta Bhagyachandra Parishad and Shri Shri Reseshwori Pala Marup.

Senapati of Shri Shri Govindaji Temple Board, RK Chiranjit said due to the prevailing crisis of Manipur this year’s celebration is organised only for ritual purpose only.

He said in 18th century the then King of Manipur, Rajarishi Bhagyachandra introduced Vaishnavism in Manipur to maintain peace and harmony in the land. Since then many of the people of Manipur are following Vaishnavism.

In the 21st century the number of people following Vaishnavism decreases as Manipur is a democratic state.

Devotes of Lord Vishnu paid floral tribute on the portrait of Rajarishi Bhagyachandra. The devotes had a feast at the premises of Shri Shri Govindaji Temple.
