Arms, warlike stores recovered in Manipur

Imphal: As part of state wide combing operations to recover looted, illegal arms and ammunition and thereby preventing further violence, the joint security forces launched an intelligence based search operation in general area Dampi Village in Churachandpur district on Tuesday.

​During the search operation the security forces recovered one 9 mm pistol with Magazine, one country made Single Barrel rifle, one rifle 12mm bore, one country made improvised mortar, one Rocket Propelled grenade, one country made improvised bomb along with some ammunition and one Combat dress on the outskirts of the village, the Assam Rifles said on Wednesday.

​Alongside the search operation, the security forces also conducted a medical camp and distributed medicines and essential items to the villagers to provide them relief during the ongoing crisis.

​As stated in the state government notification, the general public is again requested to deposit back any looted weapons and ammunition which they may have in their possession and help accelerate the peace restoration process, the Assam Rifles said.
