Imphal: Security forces recovered several arms and ammunitions, and rescued a lady from Kangpokpi district in trouble torn Manipur on Monday.
During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense with sporadic incidents of firing and congregation of protestors, Manipur Police Control Room said on Monday.
Search operations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal-West, Imphal-East, Thoubal, Kakching, Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts and recovered nine arms, two pompi, 10 ammunition, eight munition and three explosives from Churachandpur, Imphal-East and Thoubal districts, the police control room said.
One civilian lady (Meitei) was rescued on dun from Kangpokpi district by CSO along with Manipur Police and security forces and handed safely to Bishnupur district authorities, it added.
Movement of 491 vehicles along NH-37 with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it said.
A total of 130 Checkpoints were installed in different cistricts of Manipur. Police detained 1624 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.
The police control room appeals to general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc. may be confirmed from the rumour-free number – 9233522822 of Central Control room, it said.
It also appeals to public to return the ‘looted’ arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
