Imphal: Security forces decided to use minimum force towards agitators during a meeting with senior officers of CAPF held at Police Head Quarter, Imphal while discussing the present law and order situation in Manipur.
The officers were apprised of the unfortunate injuries of students as well as security personnel. The forces discussed to use minimum force in dealing with the public especially students, Manipur Police Control Room said on Thursday.
Manipur Police appeals to the students to co-operate with law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and bringing normalcy back early.
“Any miscreants taking advantage of the current situation will be firmly dealt by police. The joint security forces are making all efforts for expeditious investigation into all the cases,” the police control room said.
During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense but under control with sporadic incidents of congregation of protestors. Search operations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts, it added.
Movement of 269 vehicles along NH-37 and 199 vehicles along NH-2 with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it said.
A total of 131 checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur. Police detained 1526 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State it added.
The police control room appeals to general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc may be confirmed from the rumour free number – 9233522822 of Central Control room, it said.
It also appeals to public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
