5 arrested with arms, money, cough syrup in Imphal

Imphal: Teams of Imphal West commando of Manipur Police on Wednesday evening arrested five persons with arms, money and cough syrup from Imphal.

The five persons were identified as Pangambam Chingkhomba Meitei, 28, son of late P. Kiran Meitei of Yairipok Top Laimanai; Yumkhaibam Moshin, 24, son of Md. Noor Zaman of Lilong Awang Leikai; Wangmayum Mehtab, 30, son of Md. Nawab of Lilong Bazaar; Maibam Sharukh Khan, 28, son of Md. Abdul Hakim of Thoubal Moijing; and Chingakham Sunder Singh, 31, son of Ch. Nongyai Singh of Yairipok Top.

They were apprehended during frisking and checking at the western side of Singjamei bridge.

From their possession the police recovered one .32 pistol loaded with one live round (from the possession of Chingkhomba); seven mobile phones; two side bags containing Rs 3.5 lakh; one Creta vehicle black in colour without registration number; two loose vehicle number plate; and three bottles of CODEDYL-T 100ml which contains Codeine Phosphate 10mg each.

The arrested persons along with the seized articles have been handed over to Singjamei Police station and a case has been taken up, a police report said on Thursday.
