Sekmai demands IRB stay

Imphal: Awang Sekmai Kanba Nupi Lup has  urged the authority concerned not to take away 4th IRB personnel from its position as the Sekmai area is one of the most vulnerable area and demanded to deploy more security forces.

Vice President of the women organisation Khwairakpam Purnima said urged the authority concerned not to replace the IRB personnel. She said during the crisis the local MLA Heikham Dingo has been providing necessary assistances for the villagers’ safety. 

In a government order it is mentioned that one platoon of 4th IRB personnel deployed at the River Bank area of Laipat Parao to Pangal Tabi is now deployed at Tingri (Tingri Primary School) in place of 1 platoon of B/184 Bn CRPF. And 1 platoon of B/184 Bn CRPF deployed at Tingri (Tingri Primary School) is now deployed at River Bank of Laipat Parao to Pangaltabi areas in place of 1 platoon of 4th IRB.

The order was issued on Saturday and will be made effective immediately.

She said during the crisis the local MLA, Heikham Dingo has been providing necessary assistances for the villagers’ safety. 

She clarified that some people of Sekmai Assembly Constituency reported on media that local MLA is not concerned for the people of the assembly constituency. She said the statement was made due to miscommunication among the villagers.
