Imphal: The Manipur Police condemns the dastardly attack meted out against Kabib K, IGP (zone-II) and his escort personnel on Monday evening at Kwakeithel, Imphal West.
The police department appeals to the public not to indulge in such anti-social deeds. “It will not be tolerated.”
Thirty persons have been arrested in connection with the incident and raids will continue to apprehend more people involved in the incident, Manipur Police Control Room said.
While the police is working round the clock to bring normalcy in the state, it is expected of the public to abide and co-operate with the police authorities, it added and appealed to the public that there should be no obstacle to the movement of security forces in carrying out their official duties.
“All lawful/ legal action will be taken up in case of any deviation and obstruction.”
Situation is tense in some places with sporadic incidents of firing, arson and congregation of unruly mob during the last 24 hours, the police control room said
The security forces conducted search operations in the vulnerable and fringe areas of both valley and hill districts and three arms and six ammunitions were recovered from Imphal East. One bunker was also dismantled.
In the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, suspected armed miscreants fired in Torbung area near Kangvai in which one security force personnel sustained pellet injury and was evacuated to Military Hospital at 9 Assam Rifles.
Two houses were torched in Phougakchao Mamang Leikai by unknown miscreants. The security team retaliated the firing and repelled the miscreants.
A total of 123 checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and police had detained 438 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.
The police department appeals to general public to extend all possible help in bringing normalcy in the state.
