COCOMI demands to demolish Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists

Imphal: Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity(COCOMI) has pressed 26 MLAs including the Speaker to call for a Special Assembly session over the present Manipur crisis and send its resolution to the Centre.

A nine-member team of the commitee met the Speaker along with ministers and MLAs on Monday and talked on the present issue demanding to call the special Assembly session.

Coordinator of COCOMI, Jeetendra Ningomba informed this to reporters at its Lamphelpat office, here.

The present crisis is triggered by Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists. The special Assembly session should take a resolution to demolish this terrorist group, COCOMI demanded.

The coordinating committee also demanded the people’s representatives to take the state Cabinet’s decision of withdrawal of SoO with Kuki groups in the Assembly as another resolution. These resolutions should be sent to the central government.

The coordinating committee also demanded to abolish the system that divides Manipur as the Hills and Valley and work for One Manipur.

Jeetendra said sections of people have been unhappy as the bunkers in the valley are damaged by security forces while the bunkers constructed in the hills are not.

The special Assembly session should also take a resolution against demand for Seperate Administration in the state, Jeetendra said.

He said COCOMI condemns killing of a Maring lady Lucy at Keibi Heikakmapal on Saturday, stating that it was very unfortunate.

Such a situation will create disrespect among the indigenous people of Manipur, he added.

COCOMI is organising a public meeting at Khwairamband Ima Keithel on July 21 to discuss on the steps to be taken on the present situation, the coordinator said and appealed to people to take part in the gathering.
