4.046 Kg opium recovered in Manipur

Imphal: A team of Senapati district police of Manipur recovered 4.046 Kg of opium from an area near Khongnem Thana along NH-2, on Saturday.

The drug was recovered when the police team conducted mobile frisking and checking along NH-2.

During the frisking and checking at around 7 am, one Hyundai Venue car bearing registration number NL 07 CA 2459 was stopped. Four packages of suspected opium were found concealed under the seat of the car.

SDO/SDM-SPT S. Lunguiba Thangal (Executive Magistrate) was deputed for necessary procedures. 

The driver identified as Mangkhokam Misao, 29, son of Vumpao Misao of BPO Phaipijang Village Dimapur Sadar, Nagaland took out four packages of suspected Opium packed in transparent plastic polythene which were concealed under the seat of the car, a police report said.

The packages weighted 1.012 kg , 1.012 Kg, 1.011 Kg and 1.011 Kg and in total weighed 4.046 Kg including with the weight of  plastic polythene, it added. 

A regular FIR case under under NDPS Act has been registered for further investigation, the police report said.
