Nano liquid urea launched in Manipur

Imphal: Nano urea of Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited was launched in Manipur for trial on Thursday.

It was launched by Manipur Agriculture department director Kh. Lalmani, here in Imphal.

He said the launching of Nano urea liquid would give a huge benefit to the farmers in various ways if the trial of using the liquid urea turns successful.

Lalmani said as per recommendation and guidelines 30 kg urea should be applied in 1 sangam (0.58 acre) of paddy field. The quantity of one urea bag is 45 kg and the farmers are given one bag of urea for 1 sangam. As it is inconvenient to put recommended quantity to the paddy fields, most of the farmers put one bag for 1 sangam of paddy field which is excess as compared with the recommendation and guidelines, he added.

He said due to excess of urea the fertility of soil could be reduced and even it could be health hazard from the chemicals found in the urea. It is good step for introducing the Nano urea liquid as being nano particle it will give less chemical impact and with less chemical content, he added.

Lalmani said if the trial is successful, in the near future the issue of un-availability of fertilizers would be solved.

One bottle of nano urea liquid (500 ml) is similar to one bag of urea and during the transportation it will give a huge difference, he said.

Khundongbam Ranbir Meitei, farmer, said he used the IFFCO Nano urea liquid in his paddy field instead of using the normal solid urea. He was advised to use the liquid urea by one of the agriculture officer.

He said at the present stage of paddy plants as compared th other fields where solid urea is used, it could produce proper quantity of yields.

State marketing manager, IFFCO, Ajit Bhattacharya said the liquid is less toxic chemical fertilizers as compared to other chemical fertilizers. The crop yields will be increased and it has been tested at over 11, 000 different areas across the country. It will bring more benefit to the farmers in logistics, storage and others, he added.
