Deployment of central team to Manipur for Covid-19 management

Imphal: As a follow up of meeting of chief minister N. Biren Singh with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence at New Delhi, the ministry of health and family welfare (Disaster Management Cell), has deputed a multi-disciplinary central team to aid state health department in management of Covid-19 in the state in view of upsurge in Covid cases.

The team comprises of Dr L. Ashananda, senior regional director, RoHFW, Manipur, Dr Rameshwar, deputy director, NCDC and Dr Smita Singhal, consultant microbiologist and nodal officer for Manipur.

The team will specifically look at areas of testing, including genomic sequencing for SARS-CoV-2 variants, contact tracing, including surveillance, containment operations, Covid appropriate behaviors, availability of hospital beds, sufficient logistics including ambulances and hospital wise case fatality analysis and Covid-19 vaccination progress.

The experts team will assess, suggest remedial actions, and report every evening at 7 pm on the public health activities being undertaken to coronacontrolroom@gmail.com besides submitting the same to state government.
