Imphal: The present issue on Mt. Koubru could be easily solved immediately if Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) stops insisting the people to create an issue, BJP Manipur chief spokesperson Ch. Bijoy said.
He was speaking to media in a video clip released on Wednesday.
The allegation of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee that state government and Committee on Protection and Preservation of Mt. Koubru has signed an agreement is baseless. He clarified that any agreement should be signed with chief secretary or concerned commissioner with the respective organisation or anybody. Due to the reason he declared the agreement as invalid, Bijoy said.
To protect Koubru the present government has been trying to include in Manipur Ancient and Historical Monument and Archaeological sites and remains (2nd amendment) Act, 1996. The process is to give protection on Mt Koubru is continuing, he added.
One of the INC candidate of recent by-election of Saitu Assembly Constituency, Lamtinthang Haokip who is also one of the active members of the preservation committee denied that Mt. Koubru is the place where life originated. He expressed the statement during a panel discussion held in a local electronic media on December 12 last year, the chief spokesperson said.
Bijoy said Congress MLA, K Meghachandra should express to public that what steps has been taken against INC candidate Lamtinthang. He said Lamtinthang strongly opposed the belief that Mt Koubru is the origin of all the communities however Congress MLA, Meghachandra said present BJP led government should solve the present issue immediately. The congress party should stop playing double role instead should told the people that what action has been taken against Lamtinthang, Bijoy added.
