Assam Rifles conducts Covid vaccination drive

Imphal: Assam Rifles medical team administered vaccination to a total of 180 villagers of Moirang, Bishnupur in a Covid awareness and vaccination drive on Monday.

The programme was conducted by Loktak battalion under the aegis of IGAR (South) in collaboration with Moirang Apunba Meira Paibi Ima Lup (Mampil) and dio, Bishnupur.

The drive was organised with an aim to combat the Covid resurgence. The drive included lectures on Covid appropriate behaviour and the importance of vaccination to fight against the pandemic, the Assam Rifles said.

In another service towards people, the ​Khoupum battalion under the aegis of IGAR (South) provided life-saving medical treatment to two snakebite victims of Nambol village, Bishnupur and Lubanglong village, Noney on Sunday.

​The minors bitten by venomous snakes were brought to the Medical Inspection room of the battalion. They were immediately attended to and necessary medical care was provided by the medical team of the battalion. The minors were referred to RIMS, Imphal for further treatment, the Assam Rifles said.

​Also, the Moreh battalion of the Assam Rifles along with Moreh Youth Club organised a webinar on ‘Women’s Health and Hygiene’ for womenfolk of Moreh.

​Dr Sonali Kapila MS, DNB, MNAMS (consultant gynaecologist and infertility specialist) was the main speaker of the webinar. The webinar included awareness about menstrual hygiene, identification of related diseases and precautions nascent stage.

​The webinar was attended by more than 50 ladies of all age groups and the event culminated with the distribution of medical kits to ladies.
