Imphal: Three ECG technicians engaged recently on contract basis for six months at Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) were allegedly found unqualified for the post including one using fake certificate.
This was revealed by All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) on Thursday.
Their selection should be dissolved, the student body demanded.
The student body said it will send report to Union health and family welfare ministry to find out the corruption conducted at the hospital.
Vice-president, AMSU, Laishram Athouba during a press conference held at its head office located at DM university campus, Imphal on Thursday.
On June 30 advertisement notification for recruitment of ECG technician were issued, signed by deputy director (administration), RIMS. Out of the total post four were reserved for un-reserved candidates and 1 for schedule tribe candidate, Athouba said.
The interview for the post was conducted on July 6 and the result was declared on the next day by administrative officer, RIMS. Following the result of the recruitment five selected candidates have joined RIMS for the post of ECG technician on July 8, he added.
Athouba said out of the five engaged candidates one selected candidate was found allegedly using fake diploma certificate from Bharat Sevak Samaj, West Bengal and two were found unqualified as their diploma course were incomplete.
The students’ body had earlier submitted memorandum at concerned ministry for upgradation of RIMS hospital at AIIMS. However, it is unfortunate that even in health sector and hospitals like RIMS some people are indulging inbnepotism and corruption, he added.
He said the authority concerned should conduct a new recruitment process for the post and should select candidates under merit basis.
The authority concerned should take necessary action against the board members, staffs and others involved in connection with the recruitment. The students’ body will send a complaint letter to health ministry concerned at the earliest, he said.
It is suspicious that the frequent complaint on defect of ECG machine and others at various hospital might be due to appointment of unqualified technicians, he added.
Necessary steps will be taken by the student body to find out unqualified employees appointed under nepotism and corruption, the student body warned.
He appealed the people to support the student’s body in order to root out corruption.
