Imphal: The role of Yoga is very significant during this Covid-19 pandemic for its effectiveness in the management of psych-somatic and psycho-social problems inflicted during this pandemic.
Manipur health services director Dr K. Rajo said on Yoga Day.
“It is very helpful for enhancing the recovery process of the Covid patient,” Rajo said.
The 7th edition of International Day of Yoga was held at state medical directorate, here on Monday with the participation of Dr.K.Rajo Singh and State Mission director (NHM) Dr N. Shyamjai Singh and SNO Maternal Health Dr Meena Seram attended as special guests. SNO State Quality Assurance and SNO RAT also attended as special invitees ‘abiding all Covid Protocol’, State Health Society, Manipur said.
The Yoga day was observed on the theme “Yoga for Wellness”.
Dr Shyamjai acknowledged the importance of Yoga because it can definitely improve the quality of one’s life including the longevity of the life span if it is properly and regularly practiced.
As part of the Yoga day observation in over 190 countries of the world the state art and culture department with the support of the North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur under ministry of culture observed the day at the Government Dance College campus.
Art and culture director Ng. Uttam Singh, joint director Dinamani Singh, deputy director G.Dharmadas Sharma, principal in-charge of Government Dance College Jasoda Devi and prinicipal in-charge of Government Music College S.Ramkumar Singh among others attended the celebration.
Yoga demonstration and practice under the supervision of Yoga instructors Ayekpam Devendra and Koireng was conducted with the participation of the officials, teachers and students of both dance college and music college.
Director Uttam stressed the importance of Yoga for health of the human being. “If we are healthy we can contribute to the growth of the society.We can keep our health fit if we pratice Yoga regularly the director also mentioned,” he said.
