Manipur Congress demands to immediately bring down prices of petroleum products, commodities

Imphal: As a part of the Indian National Congress nationwide protest against hike in prices of Petroleum products and resulting hike in the price of commodities Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee staged a protest in Imphal on Friday.

Members of Manipur PCC led by its president Govindas Konthoujam, Congress Legislature Party leader O. Ibobi Singh and Congress Working Committee member staged a sit-in Congress Bhavan, here.

Besides the protest rally at Congress Bhavan, Manipur PCC members staged a sit-in at Changangei oil depot and Pangel oil pump.

“Instead of bringing down the prices of commodities for people in this pandemic, the oil price continues to rise in India. In Manipur, the petrol price has almost hit Rs 100 per litre. It has resulted in the prices of commodities moving sky-high while people are struggling with the pandemic woes. The price of petroleum products should be reduced immediately and control the price of commodities,” Govindas told reporters.

If the current price rise is not protested people will bear burden upon burden, he added.

“Indian economy will never become better unless BJP government is thrown off, Govindas said citing that the GDP of Bangladesh, the small country which India helps, is higher than India,” the Congress leader said.

The current price of petrol in Imphal is Rs 99.57 per litre and for diesel, it is Rs 90.25 per litre.
