Covid-19 claims 18 more lives, infects 798; Black Fungus cases reported

Imphal: Covid-19 has taken 18 lives in 24 hours and infected 798 while 629 Covid-19 patients were recovered in Manipur.

The new positive cases were confirmed among test results of 5720 persons released on Tuesday. The positivity rate was 13.5 percent.

The 18 Covid-19 victims belonged to Imphal West (5), Imphal East (5), Churachandpur (2), Kakching (2), Kangpokpi (1), Noney (1) and Thoubal (1).

The positive cases were from Imphal East (207), Imphal West (323), Thoubal (81), Bishnupur (49), Kakching (14), Ukhrul (19), Churachandpur (52), Chandel (3), Senapati (13), Tamenglong (8), Kangpokpi (9), Jiribam (19) and CAPF (1).

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the state Covid-19 common control room said.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 50,549. The number of active cases is 8,942. The recovery rate is 81.05 percent, it added.

Of the active cases 4921 are at home isolation.

“Two cases of Black Fungus (RIMS – 45 years, male, Imphal West) and (SHIJA – 46 years, male, Imphal West) were reported following Covid-19 illness,” the control room said.

“All hospitals, health centres or clinics are reminded to report such cases, failing of which may attract actions under the current epidemic Act”, it added.

So far a total of 388761 persons have been vaccinated.
