Imphal: In view of the surging numbers of Covid-19 positive cases in the country and in the state, shops in Imphal West district were ordered to open in rotations.
Imphal West district magistrate, in an order issued on Saturday, said shops at Singjamei Bazar, Kwakeithel Bazar, Lamphel Super Market, North AOC, Chingmerong Khongnang Ani Karak, Naoremthong Bazar, Tera Bazar, Keishamthong Bazar, Moirangkhom Bazar, Kakwa Bazar, Sekmai Bazar, Lamsang Bazar, Samurou Bazar, Wangoi Bazar, Thangkhong Luxmi Bazar, and Mayang Imphal Bazar should be opened on rotation.
The order cited that shop numbers 1, 4, 7, etc. are to be opened on day-1 and shop numbers. 2 ,5, 8, etc. on day-2 and shop numbers 3, 6, 9, etc. on day-3.
One in each three shops operating along the stretches of roads lying between Maharani Bridge and Keishampat Junction; Keishampat Junction and Kwakeithel Bazar (along Tiddrn Road); Waheng Leikai junction and Tera Bazar (along NH – 37); Maharani Bridge and Naoremthong Bazar (along Uripok – Kangchup Road); Maharani Bridge and Khoyathong Traffic Island (along Nagamapal); Khoyathong Traffic Island and Lilasing Khongnan gkhong (along DM College Road); and Babupara opposite telephone Bhawan and Canchipur opposite MU main gate (along NH – 102) to be opened on the same rotation.
The pattern of shops opening shall also apply to all the shop keepers operating in Thangal Bazar and Paona Bazar, the order said.
Number of vendors in the markets centres, which are based outside Khwaramband Bazar, is restricted to one third of the maximum capacity of the market concerned with due observance of Covid appropriate behaviour, it added.
