Regional consultation on Draft NE Region district indicator framework held

Imphal: The North Eastern Region Districts SDG Index: Regional consultation 2021 is being held at Shillong, Meghalaya from April 12 to 14 April, organised by ministry of development of north eastern region NITI Aayog with the support of UNDP.

Planning director N. Kulkarani, additional health director Dr Kh. Shashikumar, additional education (S) director R.K Tenedy, social welfare deputy secretary Bantee Singh Konthoujam, and economics and statistics assistant director Nydia Nengneichong Mate represented Manipur.

During the workshop, the draft North Eastern Region District Indicator Framework (NEDIF) were presented for finalisation and feedbacks will be sought from the states.

The overall objective of the workshop was to frame a roadmap for a sustainable development and to balance the economic, environmental and social needs, allowing prosperity for the present and the future generation.

One of the mile stone achievements of this programme is that eight northeastern states have finalised and launched their SDG State indicator Framework thereby aligning their monitoring and evaluation systems with SDG targets.

The ministry has identified the need for minotoring of the achievement on the concurrent basis and has partnered with NITI Aayog for focused inventions.

Government of India has decided to ensure a ranking of the north estern states and districts on a concurrent manner and an SDG index for the region with a dynamic dashboard for progress monitoring has been agreed upon.
