Imphal: Manipur chief secretary Rajesh Kumar has instructed the director of state health services to arrange inspection of Covid isolation wards in all districts, and prepare report indicating number of beds, ventilators, pulse oxymeters, manpower, etc. by April 15.
The chief secretary also directed directors of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences to submit a report on their Covid isolation wards and ensure all arrangements are in full readiness.
All deputy commissioners were directed that District Task Force for Covid vaccination meet daily so that unvaccinated HCWs/ FLWs are covered urgently.
Commissioners of concerned departments, especially social welfare, revenue, rural development and Panchayati Raj were also advised to mobilise the unvaccinated staff.
Rajesh also instructed the deputy commissioner Imphal West and director of health services to facilitate smooth Covid testing at Imphal airport while observing social distancing, and to construct a testing shed in the parking area. Director, Imphal airport had also requested for construction of such a testing shed.
The directive was issued in view of the fresh surge in Covid positive cases in the state following a joint meeting which was held on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Rajesh Kumar. It was attended by Covid Task Force and State Steering Committee for Covid-19 vaccine administration and deputy commissioners.
The meeting highlighted the alarming trend of fresh Covid cases in many states.
A power-point presentation was made by state immunization officer highlighting the district wise current status of Covid vaccination in the state.
The meeting highlighted that Manipur had a peak of 7639 fresh Covid cases in the month of October, 2020. Since then it has subsided to a low of 126 fresh cases during March. Case Fatality Rate was 1.2 percent against national average of 1.33 percent. Test per million in Manipur was 192,047 against national average of 175,980. Out of 65 fresh positive cases confirmed in the last ten days of March, 24 of them were air passengers from high risk states.
The chief secretary directed the deputy commissioners and police department to ensure strict enforcement of mark wearing at all public place, including markets, shops, etc. All heads of departments were also instructed to ensure mask wearing at all government offices.
